Sexology

Depth in sexuality, with attention to safety.

Sexology

Sexological therapy can focus on a specific complaint: for example, when tension, shame, pain, or blockages affect sexual functioning or experience. From a depth psychological perspective, we also examine the underlying causes. We work carefully and without judgement, with attention to safety, boundaries and regulation.

Sexology for couples

Sometimes sexuality plays out mainly in the dynamic between partners: differences in desire, shame, distance or repair after tension. With couples we work on the dynamic between you: attunement, communication and the pattern in the relationship.

A good fit for:

  • a mismatch between desire and physical response
  • pain, tension or blockages in the body
  • shame, fear or insecurity around sexuality
  • the impact of stress or trauma on intimacy and sexual functioning
  • boundaries, consent and attunement

Not a fit right now if:

  • you're looking for a purely medical or physiological explanation – in that case I'll refer you to a doctor first

Tell me how you were loved, and I will tell you how you make love

Esther Perel

Research shows that sexual health is deeply interwoven with our general wellbeing. Emily Nagoski (2015) describes how stress, culture and beliefs strongly influence our desire and our sexual functioning. Neuroscientist Stephen Porges emphasises in his polyvagal theory that a sense of safety in the nervous system is an essential condition for experiencing intimacy and pleasure. And trauma expert Bessel van der Kolk states that "the body keeps the score": experiences and memories are stored in our body and influence how we connect sexually.

These insights form a foundation in my work: by involving body, emotions and thoughts together, blockages can be released and space can arise for more pleasure, relaxation and freedom in sexuality.

FAQ - Sexology

Both. We start from your request for help and complaints, and then work in depth: we explore underlying patterns, safety, shame, boundaries, and stress—so that lasting shifts can occur.

Questions regarding desire, arousal, and orgasm, pain or tension, and a mismatch between desire and physical response. Also shame or fear surrounding intimacy and closeness, or when stress or past experiences affect sexuality.

We tailor this to your request for help and what is accessible at that moment. Sometimes we work primarily through conversation and assigning meaning; sometimes we slow down and incorporate body signals and regulation. Always carefully, with attention to pace and boundaries.

No. We work carefully and without judgment. You decide what you share and at what pace.

Unfortunately, this happens often. I regularly work with the consequences of sexually inappropriate behavior (including abuse and incest). We work step-by-step, with an emphasis on safety, resilience, and restoring control.
